Mariano Fortuny, Norman Norell and John Galliano headline Leslie Hindman Auction

A 1920 acqua Delphos gown by Mariano Fortuny with his signature hand-pleated silk and some Venetian glass bead embellishment (est: $1,000-2,000) and a mermaid gown in green sequins by Norman Norell (est: $2,000-3,000) are among the highlights of the upcoming Luxury Accessories and Couture  auction by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers.

To be held on April 5, the auction offers fashionista the opportunity to hold a pieceof fashion history and includes over 150 lots with creations by designers like André Courrèges, Pierre Cardin, and Oscar de la Renta, along with suits by Chanel and chainmail designs by Paco Rabanne.

Of note, a newsprint bustier dress by John Galliano ($500-600), as well as a 1965 paper dress “after Andy Warhol,” known as the Souper Dress (est: $1,500-2,500), which was sold by Campbell’s Soup company, in a case of life imitates arts as it was inspired by Andy Warhol’s 1962 Campbell’s Soup Cans canvas (one of those dresses is own by The Met). 

The auction also includes several colorful Hermes handbags such as a gold Birkin handbag (est: $9,000-11,000) and an orange Kelly (est: $7,000-8,000).
