Summer 2021 Haute Couture: Stephane Rolland’s Spanish Golden Age

French Couturier Stephane Rolland has long been interested in Spanish culture. In 2013, he created a collection inspired by Velasquez and the intense mood of his paintings.

For Spring 2021, the designer returned to the Spanish Golden Age, finding inspiration in the courtly dress of the Meninas as depicted by Velasquez as well as the Spanish sculptor Manolo Valdes.

As usual, the designer favoured bold volumes, a limited palette of black, white and gold, and strategic cut-outs to reveal skin without ever showing too much.
