Artketing: Victo Ngai for Johnnie Walker Blue Label
Johnnie Walker has partnered with illustrator Victo Ngai to launch a new ‘Pioneering Cities’ limited edition of its Blue Label scotch whiskey that celebrates Hong Kong and its East-meets-West spirit.
Finding inspiration in her childhood memories, the Hong Kong-raised and Los Angeles-based illustrator created an intricate design that centers around a lavishly dressed Cantonese opera performer with fragments of images from the iconic Chinese city (neon light, architecture) incorporated in the costume design.
Shades of gold and blue have been used throughout the illustration to echo the tone of the Johnnie Walker Blue Label branding and continues in the ombre-blue bottle base. A Chinese-themed tassel further decorates the golden cap.
Every bottle has its own seven-digit serial number starting with Hong Kong’s area code ‘852’ limited edition is only available in Hong Kong.g.
